OMG I could not put this down! Once again this author has me enthralled with this fast paced start to a new series! It’s a little different then what we are used to but it is oh so so good and one hell of a ride as we meet intriguing characters on this exciting and very entertaining journey。 It’s a little dark and a little intense, there’s light and darkness and I am very excited to read book two!

Sarah K。 Has done it again。 The first book in a fast paced new series that is sure to keep me hanging on every word。 Sarah has a true talent for artfully weaving unique stories with fast paced plots that are sure to keep you come back for more and this book is no exception。 Our story starts by introducing us to its heroine who is not the least bit afraid to admit that her only true talent is in reading。 In a desperate last effort to save herself from a new terror taking over her home and all its Sarah K。 Has done it again。 The first book in a fast paced new series that is sure to keep me hanging on every word。 Sarah has a true talent for artfully weaving unique stories with fast paced plots that are sure to keep you come back for more and this book is no exception。 Our story starts by introducing us to its heroine who is not the least bit afraid to admit that her only true talent is in reading。 In a desperate last effort to save herself from a new terror taking over her home and all its inhabitants, she makes a deal with a shadow which in turn gives him intimate access to all of her own thoughts。 Opposites in every way possible, she is light and he is darkness, she is new and he is a millennia old, she is sheltered and gentle by nature and he is violence and war and together they seem to create the perfect hurricane of chaos… but there’s no way of knowing yet if their hurricane will be enough to over power the plague of killing and corruption that’s consuming their land。 。。。more

I did like the premises of the story and the "zombie" vibe :)But I didn't enjoy this book as much as other stories by this author。 Probably mainly because I don't like inst-love。 And there is lots of languishing in the middle or beside dire situations。 Also not sure if the idea of Nakuratu's mind reading works with the first person pov as she's also sometimes hiding thoughts from him。。。how?Nevertheless, I think I'll see what happens next。P。s。 I might be team Stekkan! Great story with a gripping storyline and well done, complex characters that make you care what happens to them。

A bookworm raised in comfort finds her home under attack and must make brave decisions to escape the evil actors。 What she finds surprises her, disgusts her, intrigues, and keeps her alive。 Once the story begins, it rarely lets up in the danger and decision-making, sword-knife-hand fighting, and figuring out what's happening, then how to save the kingdom。 Great writing and storytelling as always。 I like less blood and a bigger adventure with more working parts, so I gave it a 4 instead of 5 base A bookworm raised in comfort finds her home under attack and must make brave decisions to escape the evil actors。 What she finds surprises her, disgusts her, intrigues, and keeps her alive。 Once the story begins, it rarely lets up in the danger and decision-making, sword-knife-hand fighting, and figuring out what's happening, then how to save the kingdom。 Great writing and storytelling as always。 I like less blood and a bigger adventure with more working parts, so I gave it a 4 instead of 5 based on my preference! 。。。more

This is an excellent start to a new series, something different than the norm this time。 And all the better for it。 I cannot wait for book two to see where this goes。 And I and struggling to say much more without giving the game away。 Suffice it to say if you like this authors other books you’ll love this one。 Highly recommended。

My goodness, what a wonderful compelling story。 Full of action, passion and an intensity that’s difficult to describe。I was totally immersed in the book as I was carried along with the storyline。This is the first in a new series and if this first book is anything to go by, it’s going to be an awesome adventure。I can’t praise it enough and I’ll be waiting impatiently for the next episode。
